We at the Copland Hotel work to help people who have been made homeless for any number of reasons.

We provide emergency accommodation and have done for the past 16 years. Our goal is to provide a safe and secure place for people until they can be moved into their own flats, supported accommodation etc.

We offer free use of telephones for people to stay in touch with caseworkers and benefits agencies and our staff have a working knowledge of benefits, food banks and how the homeless system works.

Homelessness

Can you imagine how you could end up homeless, the course your life might take to find yourself without a roof over your head? But what if you lost your wife, your husband, your child? What if your business had to close down or you lost your job? What if your rent supplement was cut and you couldn’t stay in your home? What if you suffered from a mental illness or an addiction?

We hear these stories every day. Homelessness is not as far away as people may think, especially in these tough and uncertain times. It really can happen to anyone. It is never a choice.

At the Copland hotel we are not a care establishment but we do everything we can to help out people in this terrible situation. We can offer an ear to talk to and can also point people in the right direction to the support that is actually on offer for them. We have a good working knowledge of the support that is on offer to people that have been made homeless, some of this information might not be widely known to everyone so we feel it is our duty to pass on the knowledge we have.
